Morgan's Story - Erasing the Stigma of Addiction: 9news.com/video/news/local/next/morgans-story-erasing-the-stigma-of-addiction/73-2717026

Morgan Rose Tartz, 20 years young, passed away on July 7th, 2017 as a result of a heroin overdose. She was the loving daughter of John and Karla Tartz. Caring sister of Zoe, Dylan and Skylar Tartz. Adoring granddaughter of Norm and the late Rose Klotz, and the late Ralph and Ginny Tartz. With a heart of gold, Morgan’s mission in life was to help others who felt lost or out of place. And because of that we share her story.

For those who knew Morgan she was perfectly imperfect. She was our beautiful purple rose, who, unfortunately, had sharp thorns guiding her through life. She was fun, spunky, and outgoing. She knew her style and didn’t care who you were or your background. She was the first person to defend anyone being “different.” She rooted for the underdog, but had trouble rooting for herself.

Morgan just celebrated 90 days of sobriety but all it took was one time. One time for an entire family to be broken. She wanted nothing more than to have a life free from addiction. Although battling her own demons, Morgan somehow found the courage and strength to offer those struggling the love and support they needed. And because of that, there are people today who are living a sober life because of her.

Our purple rose lived an amazing life. She got to travel the world, multiple family vacations, an abundance of family and friends, a twin brother to walk through life with, two adoring sisters and two loving parents who fought hard by her side. Morgan is proof that it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, or what support you have in your everyday life. Morgan had all the love and guidance to get better, but we learned at the end of the day, the only person who can save you is yourself.

Morgan would not want us to cry for her, but to fight for everyone with this terrible disease. From this day forward we all have a new outlook on life. If you are struggling or lost in life, Morgan’s love army is not here to judge you, we are not here to criticize, but we are here to offer a hug and support to all those suffering. You are not alone. Morgan is watching out for all of you as well as this entire family. Together we can break the stigma of heroin addiction and offer help to those who need it.

We are participating in the Shatterproof Rise Up Against Addiction 5K Walk/Run on July 21, 2018. Shatterproof is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the devastation addiction causes families.

Every dollar we raise together will advance Shatterproof’s advocacy efforts, provide evidence-based resources for families, and help end the stigma of addiction.

The Shatterproof mission is very important to us—and we know, with the support of good people like you, we can make a big difference. May we count on your support?

Join our team or make a donation today! Whether you give $1000, $100, or $25, any amount will help change lives.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Together, we are stronger than addiction. We Are Shatterproof!
